Prognosis
The prognosis (the probability of recovery) depends on many elements including:
• The stage of the cancer and whether it affects part of the prostate, involves the whole prostate, or has spread to other places in the body.
• The patient’s age and health.
• Whether the cancer has just been diagnosed or has recurred after treatment (come back).
Prognosis also depends on the level of PSA and the Gleason score that describes how likely it is that a tumor will spread.
