Marjolaine Bazinet died of lung cancer in 2002. In 2003, the Caya-Bazinet family held a barbecue in her memory. That year, they managed to collect $2, 000 in donations, which they remitted to the Cancer Research Society. Since then, the event has continued to grow and is now sponsored by several St-Hugues area businesses. Not even bad weather can put a damper on the day's festivities - Thanks to a large tent installed on Michel Caya's property, the barbecue takes place every year, rain or shine!

Last year's event raised a record amount of over $21,000. Since its inception, the Annual BBQ for the Marjolaine-Bazinet Fund has raised over $80,000, monies which are dedicated to funding lung cancer research.
