Cycling's popularity in Europe and the United States blossomed between 1880 and 1900, with the sport mainly being practiced by professionals. While cycling is still omnipresent in Europe, its appeal on this side of the Atlantic began to plummet as early as the 1929 crisis. There have nonetheless been periods where interest in the sport sparked in North America , for example following the cycling victories of the U.S. team at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games and subsequent to the recent Tour de France wins by Greg LeMond and Lance Armstrong.

Here are the details about this Challenge :

The Jasper to Banff biking trek promises to be a cycling adventure designed to physically challenge  the participants and enable them to share amazing stories with their respective heroes.

This Challenge, which should only be attempted by advanced cyclists, features some of the most beautiful and varied landscapes in the province of British Columbia / Alberta. During the trip (covering 520 km or 320 miles), participants will travel the entire Icefields Parkway, from Jasper to Banff, and discover some of the Canadian Rockies' best kept secrets. Cyclists participating will be subject to changes in elevation totalling 5,300 metres: the trek is for ambitious intermediate or expert cyclists.
