What is cancer research?
Cancer is a complex disease which manifests itself in more than 200 various forms. Understanding the processes leading to cancer, as well as the means of preventing, controlling, and curing its different forms, is a monumental task.
From the discovery of the human genome, cancer research has taken major strides forward. In the last thirty years, researchers have accumulated an impressive amount of data that is helping to better understand the disease at the genetic and molecular level. This will allow to save innumerable lives.
The Cancer Research Society funds various research programs divided in two main categories of cancer research: environment-cancer and basic cancer research. Our rigorous selection process allows us to award funds to the best researchers and most innovative research projects across Canada.
The following links will better explain what is done at the Cancer Research Society for the advancement of cancer research.
