  • Minister Sam Hamad announces $2.8 million for cancer research

    The Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade and Minister Responsible for the Capitale-Nationale Region, Mr. Sam Hamad, has announced a $2.8 million investment in the Cancer Research Society (CRS), including $1.4 million from Ministère du Développement économique, de l’Innovation et de l’Exportation (MDEIE), for a project by researchers Jack Siemiatycki of Université de Montréal and Michael Pollak of McGill University to study links between the environment and cancer.

  • Breast cancer: $8.1 M invested in Quebec research

    Thanks to numerous fundraising activities and the many partnerships formed in the last three years, the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation is able to announce that it will grant $8.1 million to several Quebec-based research teams. Foundation spokesperson Mitsou Gélinas, President of the Cancer Research Society, Dr. Mario Chevrette, and Quebec’s minister of Health and Social Services, Dr. Yves Bolduc, attended the announcement of the record investment.

  • The Cancer Research Society and the PROCURE Tour du Courage are joining forces to fight prostate cancer

    Laurent Proulx, businessman, prostate cancer survivor, Ironman and founder of the PROCURE Tour du Courage, revealed yesterday morning, during the launch of the third edition of this three-stage cycling competition, that an amount of $120,000 would be jointly invested by the Cancer Research Society and by the Tour du Courage PROCURE in prostate cancer research.

  • 10 million dollars for cancer research in Canada: The Cancer Research Society announces its 2011 grants at the Institut de recherches cliniques de Montréal

    The Cancer Research Society recently announced its 2011 grants during an event held at the Institut de recherches cliniques de Montréal. Three researchers from the Institut – Drs. Jacques Archambault, Javier M. Di Noia and Tarik Möröy – received grants totalling $360,000.

  • A record year for the 18th Annual Cancer Research Society Golf Classic!

    The Cancer Research Society held its 18th Annual Golf Classic Thursday, August 25, at the Elm Ridge Golf Club, on Ile Bizard. Thanks to the participation of the golfers and the generosity of the sponsors and partners, the tournament raised a record amount of $164,000. This amount will be entirely dedicated to funding cancer research.

    On June 14, the Cancer Research Society (CRS) and its spokesperson, Stéphane Rousseau, announced the 2012 destinations for the CRS Challenge.   • Highly positive report on cancer survival rates bodes well for ongoing research

    On September 15, Statistics Canada unveiled comparative data on cancer survival rates for persons diagnosed between 1992 and 1994 and those diagnosed between 2004 and 2006. The good news? Study results indicate that cancer survival rates have continued to rise in Canada.
